In Carinthia’s paradise, as the Lavanttal is also known because of its beauty and abundance of fruit, everything revolves around three things: fruit, cider and, for some years now, golf. The 9-hole gem is one of the finest addresses for nine-hole courses.

It is not necessary to take a driver with you on your round on Wolfsberg’s fairways. The 9 holes are designed so that a 3-wood is sufficient. But don’t underestimate this golf course. Although the greens of some pars from the 3rd tee seem close enough to touch, there is no leaning back and playing defensively here. This has already ruined many a score here. The writer of these lines has also had his hair stand on end. Especially on the opening hole. A tricky par 4 with almost a 40 degree dogleg where you first have to roll over the driving range and then hit the tiny green. Playing par here was always a dream come true for me. And the remaining holes? Slightly hilly uphill and downhill, they are quite tricky with some holes that will haunt you even in your sleep. If you want to become a master of the short game, you should definitely play a few rounds here. It’s also great that you get the range balls for free after paying the green fee. Written in the golfing logbook: Forget the myth that a 9-hole course is easy to handle. The cuisine in the club restaurant is also down-to-earth and very good.
