Wolfsberg Golf Club – Cider, Fruit & Golf
In Carinthia's paradise, as the Lavant Valley is also known due to its beauty and abundance of fruit, everything revolves around three things: fruit, cider and, for several years now, golf. The 9-hole gem is one of the finer addresses for nine-hole courses.
It is not necessary to take a driver with you on a round at Wolfsberg. The 9 holes are designed in such a way that a 3-wood is sufficient. But don't underestimate this golf course. Although the greens of some pars seem within reach from the tee, there's no sitting back and playing defensively here. This has ruined many a score here. Even the writer of these lines has had his hair stand on end. Especially on the opening hole. A tricky par 4 with an almost 40-degree dogleg where you first have to clear the driving range and then hit the tiny green. Playing par here was always a pipe dream for me. And the rest of the holes? Slightly hilly, uphill and downhill, they are quite tricky, with some holes that will haunt you in your sleep. If you want to become a master of the short game, you should definitely play a few rounds here. It's also nice that you get free range balls after paying the green fee. Written in the golf logbook: Forget the myth that a 9-hole course is easy to handle. The cuisine at the club restaurant is down-to-earth and very good.
