Croara Country Club, the second largest in the Emilia-Romagna region after Bologna, is located in the heart of the beautiful natural landscape of the famous Trebbia Valley.

"PLAYING IN THE MIDST OF HISTORY".

The course was laid out in 1976 with 9 holes based on a design by Buratti. It was later completed by the architect Croze to become the 18-hole course we see today.
But the history of Croara began much earlier: more than two thousand years ago, in 218 BC, one of the greatest battles in ancient history took place on these very meadows. The Battle of the Trebbia, between the Romans and the Carthaginian leader Hannibal: a bloody battle in which Hannibal and his elephants gained the upper hand, shaking the power of Rome.

NOT JUST GOLF

The Croara Country Club offers a wide range of services: a restaurant and bar with stunning views of the golf course, four professional tennis courts, two padel courts and a swimming pool with a bar for use in fine weather. Of course, there is also a golf shop, run by the Golf'us chain.

VILLA AND CLUBHOUSE

One of the club's special highlights is undoubtedly the old villa, surrounded by a beautiful park and located between the swimming pool and the tennis courts. In the 18th century, it served as a summer residence for passing nobles. The building complex, the small squares, the old church and the gardens are definitely worth a visit. The clubhouse has a spacious courtyard and a magnificent terrace overlooking some of the golf holes and the River Trebbia.

A SPECIAL PLACE

Today, the course, which hosted the Women's Open in Italy for the first time in 1987, offers far more peaceful and noble challenges than it did back then, namely those of golf. The interesting 18-hole golf course runs along the Trebbia River, is surrounded by a dense oak forest and is populated by numerous crows – hence its name. There is no shortage of natural challenges, which are complemented by additional obstacles that golf course designer Marco Croze has incorporated (at least in the
final version). Every shot requires the utmost concentration. It is important not to be distracted, even if rare beauties appear along the course – both natural and historical, such as the view of the magnificent castle of Rivalta. In the middle of the golf course stands a 17th-century villa, which fascinates with its historical significance. Over the years, it has hosted numerous passing nobles, which has had a lasting impact on the surrounding area.
