The Lipica Stud Farm, known worldwide as the birthplace of the Lipizzaner horse breed, was founded in 1580. The golf course is beautifully surrounded by the typical karst landscape, in the shade of hundred-year-old lime and oak trees under the blue Mediterranean sky. The rugged karst landscape makes the golf course particularly picturesque, and it is also the only golf course in Slovenia that is open all year round. The course was built in 1989 to a design by world-renowned golf course architect Donald Harradine.
