A small village with a church and estate, idyllically nestled in a landscape of rolling hills, fields, fruit trees, ponds and, on sunny days, a white-blue sky above – anyone who appreciates a typical Bavarian atmosphere will be delighted by the St. Wolfgang Golf Course Uttlau. German golf course architect Kurt Rossknecht was equally delighted when he was given the opportunity to design 18 holes in this picture-postcard Bavarian landscape.

Following his design specifications, a course was created that blends harmoniously into the terrain, is challenging but always playable, and offers something for golfers of all abilities. The course runs in two 9-hole loops over a ridge, with ascending fairways with occasional slopes, elevated greens and tees alternating with flatter fairways on the plain, where shots over water hazards to generously sized, undulating greens must be mastered.

In addition to the sporting challenge of some outstanding golf holes, the St. Wolfgang Golf Course Uttlau also captivates with its beautiful views: the village of Uttlau with its estate, a lovingly renovated, over 400-year-old four-sided farmstead, which contains what is probably Bavaria's most beautiful "19th hole" in its interior, remains constantly in view of the players.

Due to the more distinctive terrain profile, the interesting but always fair golf course has its sporting highlights on the second nine holes. At the tenth hole, the course climbs to its highest point, where, after mastering a 150-metre par 3 over a dip, players tee off from an elevated tee on the 12th hole and hit the ball far down into the plain. The approach to this par 5 on a green well protected by ponds also requires extreme precision.

Hole 15 is also very challenging, an elongated dogleg left over a ridge to a green laid out in a dip. And the end of the round is also tough: the third shot on this par 5 leads to a small green protected by water at the front – right in the middle of the village, where a delicious snack awaits you in the beer garden of the estate as a reward for your efforts.
